'There are moments in time- in sound- that come on fast and suddenly but sit in a heart for ages. They weigh heavy, yet comfortably so, as if they have nestled down for a hibernation inside one's chest. It is a feeling rare and sought after.
Whilst tracking VERA I + VERA II, I found myself looking up from my own wonder to see engineer and sonic-comrade, William Crann, with a visage matching my own: holding his breath, eyes closed- as we both took in sounds that transcended that of simple solo piano work. Two hands and a collection of keys can only convey so much, yet Clarisse Robertson was moving tones to something much more.
The chorus she evoked from the spirit of the creaking old grand and the purity of the upright piano there in that special home we simply call 'Wyebridge'- are sounds we are humbled and privileged to have captured.
This is a solo piano record to be remembered. A solo piano record with experimentation and growth. A solo piano record that softly commands your fully captured ear.'
